About This Course
"Human Centered Design for Coffee Teams" is a week-long online course designed to expose coffee field teams to Human Centered Design (HCD) techniques to help solve difficult problems that require creative solutions.
The course is comprised of videos and short reading assigments, as well as three 1-2 hour workshops/webinars: the first work shop will adress HCD principles; the second will cover rapid prototyping, or "pretotyping", and the third will apply the HCD process to the specific challenge of how to increase participation in AAA coffee training programs. While this is designed as an online course, the workshops/webinars may be conducted in person.
The HCD methodology used in this course is based on the Stanford d.School "Design Thinking" approach. Parts of this course have been used to train the TechnoServe Strategic Initiatives Team in New York, the Microretail team in Nairobi, and Coffee teams in Kenya and Ethiopia.
